Saudi Life: Shopping Behavior
54New year sometimes comes with new year sale in the city. Reaching end of 2011 few weeks ago some groups in social media has been talk about it, surely this only can be found in groups where ladies are more than gents. Some shops starts their new year sale since last week. But is it always worth and fun shopping in sale weeks? Just like the other country, when it comes to sale weeks mostly it means you shop in a who come first who get first at the limited stock. If you are an M size for certain goods you wont find it available, as it might be sold before the sale season. In Saudi shopping during sale weeks is more convenience at office hours where only few went for shop as most ladies depend on husbands or male family members to go out. You don't have to race the speed grabbing the goods you want and no crowd. It turns different when you go in the afternoon where most Saudis go out reaching night time. I should say, sometimes it turns horrible and mess at the night time. Yes when sale weeks shops are more crowd and people will come more than usual, it happens everywhere. The goods sometimes aren't displayed at their place because customers sometimes didn't put back them in place. You will still find good people putting back them in the place if you shop in other country even there are shop staff will do their job make the shop tidy and well-ordered, but not in Saudi. Saudi shopping behavior is the most mess ever discovered. Empathy and good will is rarely found among them. When you dropped lines of items from the rack normally as a responsible person you will put them all back in the place even though there are staff will help you do it and in fact they might think it is their job. Things would be different among Saudi customers, they would even dare to stepping on the falling items and walk like it never happens. So it might be a more number of broken items found during sale weeks whereas they were in good condition for sale. If you see one or few number of customer would help at least put the items back in the safe place it would be foreigners who appreciate. If we ask numbers of gender who cause this more, it will be women. As women shops more, and just most Khaleejis, Saudi females have a high purchasing power.
Wonder how much is the loss of every store gain during the sale weeks? Is there any of them think of how their poor behavior cost a lot of waste to the business, moreover to huge number of other people as we know companies in Saudi far away from the world campaigns CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) had applied muslim charity concept known as zakat.
